Kristina & Lyndon | Westgate Hall, Southampton — Wedding Photography by Robinson Road

Westgate Hall is one of Southampton's most striking wedding venues — a medieval stone gatehouse steeped in history, with architecture that gives every photograph real depth and drama. As Southampton wedding photographers, we've shot more than ten weddings there now, and it never gets old.
The morning started with the pair of them worlds apart — Lyndon sharing a pint with his groomsmen at The Dancing Man Brewery while Kristina got ready with her bridesmaids at the beautiful Nettlebed Farm Barns. Two completely different vibes, both exactly right for them. By the time they came together at Westgate Hall, the whole room felt like it was holding its breath.

The details that make the day. One of our favourite moments of the day — Lyndon and his little man at Dancing Man Brewery. That moment when everyone's dressed and it suddenly feels very real. After the ceremony, the family headed to The Cromwell Arms for their reception — and it was out in the fields behind the venue that some of our favourite frames of the day happened. Kristina and Lyndon with their kids, open countryside all around them, completely at ease. Then just the two of them, walking along the River Test for their couple's portraits — calm, golden, unhurried.
One moment stood out above almost everything else. Their son, who is autistic, was feeling overwhelmed and wasn't keen on having his photo taken. Rather than push it, we invited him behind the camera — let him be the photographer for a while. Within minutes he was laughing, curious, completely in his element. And then, entirely on his own terms, he stepped in front of the lens. It's one of those moments that reminds you why this job matters.
Off on their adventure — Kristina & Lyndon leaving Westgate Hall. Just the two of them. Golden hour portraits along the River Test. The ones who made the day complete. Stumbled into the most perfect field. Golden hour, golden people. This is what it's all about.
These two bring the same energy to everything: adventurous, warm, a little competitive in the kitchen, and completely, unmistakably themselves. We finished the evening chasing the golden hour — that soft, warm light that makes everything look like a memory. We handed the couple their sneak peek the next morning. Days like this one are exactly why we do what we do.
If you're looking for wedding photography in Southampton and want a photographer who'll capture it exactly as it was — real, emotional, and a little bit magical — we'd love to hear from you.
