How To Get Amazing Formal Wedding Photos

Want to get amazing formal wedding photos? I'm going to share with you 5 unique tips on how to get amazing formal wedding photos. There's nothing worse than not having good photos of your friends and family, especially when it comes to the most important day of your life.

Tip #1 - Pick the Perfect Location

Choosing a location where you can get away from it all is ideal, but not always possible. You can not only get the most beautiful photos, but you can also make your guests feel comfortable, which will result in better photos.

You’ll want to pick a location that fits with your personality and style. If you are a fun-loving couple, then you may want to choose an outdoor location that has plenty of space for guests to mingle around. If you are more conservative, then you may want to choose an indoor location with plenty of natural light.

Tip #2 - Choose a Prime Time

The best time for your formal wedding photos is after the ceremony, when everyone has time to relax and enjoy themselves. As you're planning your wedding, think about what time would be best for you and your guests.

Tip #3 - Prepare a Plan and Shot List

Before the wedding day, make sure you have a plan of what shots you want to capture. This will help you stay on track and make sure you don’t miss out on any important photos. Remember that each shot will take 5 minutes, so make a list of no more than 5 or 6 group shots.

Tip #4 - Engage Your Bridal Party

Designate someone in the wedding party who knows most of your guests to help your photographer round everyone up for photos. Remember that formals take at least 5 minutes each.

Tip #5 - Keep It Short, Sweet, Simple

For those who are not used to having their photo taken, limit formal shots to a handful of poses - just enough so you don't feel rushed and can do all the ones you love. You don't want your guests feeling awkward or overwhelmed by the experience.

It's true. Getting amazing formal photos of you and your friends and family can be hard. It takes a bit of work, but if you plan out your formal wedding photo strategy ahead of time, you can get great photos that result in wonderful memories.
